The Woman’s Monday Club held its first meeting in 1897 and still exists today.  The importance of studying this type of organization includes its long life.  Few women’s organizations can claim more than a century’s worth of action with detailed records to account for their activities.  Also, this club’s metamorphosis from a small reading group to a powerful political voice is an example of the changes society and women have gone through over the past hundred years.

This club’s activities at the state, local and national levels sponsored other actions by club members or associations.  Corpus Christi truly owes a thanks to this club and its members for their efforts to improve and support civic activities in the area, as do Texas and the United State of America.
