Monday Club Closes Year With Annual
President’s Event
The club year of Woman’s Monday Club
was closed with a traditional presiden’t breakfast yesterday in the Crystal
Room of Nueces Hotel. Mrs. B. W. Klipstein was hostess.
New officers installed by Mrs. Sam
Rankin were Mrs. Maud French Smith, president; Mrs. L. L. Wagner, first vice
president; Mrs. W. E. Pope, second vice president; Mrs. John B. Hardwicke,
recording secretary; Mrs. H. H. Watson, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Boyd
Brooks, treasurer; and Mrs. Douglas I. Can Ness, parliamentarian.
The group met in the hotel apartment
of Mrs. Frank Lewis prior to the breakfast. The breakfast tables were
decorated with baskets of pink carnations and pink stock. Similar flowers
were used for smaller bouquets tied with streamers. The flowers were gifts
of Mrs. Klipstein and Mrs. Lewis.
Mrs. G. R. Scott, club founder, gave
the invocation. Mrs. Gordon Lewis was welcomed as a new club member.
Guests were Mrs. Archer Parr, Miss Carrie Allen, Mrs. Lylian Trickett, Mrs.
S. G. Borden, and Mrs. Anna McCampbell Fore. Mrs. Klipstein was assisted by
her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Brady.
Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Wagner gave a
report of the TFWC convention held in Austin last week. Woman’s Monday Club
received an award for 100 percent subscription to the “Federation News.”
The club voted to be a co-sponsor of
the new Cervantes Literary Club.
Mrs. Kate Bluntzer paid tribute to
Mrs. Klipstein and presented her with a federation pin from the club. Mrs.
William Gerhardt paid tribute to Mrs. Smith, incoming president.
Mrs. Gerhardt was named press
reporter. Mrs. Hood Boone presented yearbooks.
The meeting was closed with the club
collect read by Mrs. Charles Pugsley and “Blest Be the Tie That Binds.”
