as a fond farewell. Mrs. French’s remarks and Mrs. Green’s reply are here
quoted: ( Mrs. French ) : “ On this happy and carefree day, which marks the
end of another Club Year, it seems fitting that we express, in a few words,
our appreciation of a woman who has made the two years of her regime a very
pleasant memory to all of us. I refer to our retiring President, Mrs.
Watson. She is a happy combination of courtesy-generousity-good common
sense, and, best of all, she has a saving sense of humor – and dignity, when
dignity is necessary. She has created an atmosphere of gaity and real
holding the affection and admiration of the entire membership is something
to be desired. And so, in bidding farewell to her as President, we want her
to know just how much she has meant to us. And may each little flower in
this basket help express to her our love and appreciation.”
